YEAP Session – EAP Spring Meeting 2024
Young EAP – Driving Innovation and Advocacy 2024
With 32 active members hailing from 21 countries, YEAP represents a diverse tapestry of voices, united in their vision for a brighter future for child healthcare in Europe. Their slogan, #YEAP #connectingEurope, encapsulates their mission to bridge gaps, foster connections, and drive positive change across borders.
YEAP’s core goals are ambitious yet attainable: represent, educate, innovate, advocate, and collaborate. These pillars serve as the foundation for their initiatives, guiding their efforts to shape the landscape of paediatric training and healthcare.
Representing the interests of paediatric trainees across Europe, YEAP serves as a vital voice within the EAP, participating in councils, committees, and working groups. But their reach extends far beyond the confines of boardrooms—they are a beacon of support and guidance for trainees navigating the complexities of their profession.
Innovation is at the heart of YEAP’s mission. They are not content with the status quo; instead, they are driven to generate new ideas that push the boundaries of paediatric training. Whether it’s facilitating mobility among trainees or advancing child healthcare, YEAP is at the forefront of change, paving the way for a brighter future.
But perhaps most importantly, YEAP is a staunch advocate for child health. They serve as a bridge between national societies, the EAP, and other organisations, facilitating effective collaboration to address the pressing issues facing paediatrics today. Their commitment to advocacy knows no bounds, and they are relentless in their pursuit of a healthier, happier future for Europe’s children.
Exchange Program: Breaking Boundaries, Building Bridges (Presented at the Spring Meeting 2024)
One of YEAP’s most exciting initiatives mentioned at the Spring Meeting is the establishment of an Exchange Program for European Residents in Paediatrics. This program is a testament to their commitment to intercultural learning and education, breaking down barriers and fostering collaboration across borders.
The Exchange Program offers two distinct opportunities for residents to immerse themselves in different healthcare systems, broaden their horizons, and forge lifelong connections.
The Short Exchange, held in conjunction with major congresses like the EAP Mastercourse, would offer offer residents a brief but impactful insight into a different healthcare system. With spots available for 5-10 residents from various European countries, this program would be a whirlwind of networking, learning, and cultural exchange.
For those seeking a deeper dive into another healthcare system, the Long Exchange would offer a transformative experience. Lasting from a few weeks to several months, residents would have the opportunity to become part of a professional healthcare team in another country. Whether it’s learning a new language, gaining firsthand experience in endemic diseases, or contributing to educational activities, the Long Exchange is a gateway to personal and professional growth.
