EAP Strategy Day Recap: Shaping the Future of Paediatrics Care in Europe

We are thrilled to share with you the highlights from our recent Strategy Day held in Porto, preceding the EAP Spring Meeting. This day-long event was dedicated to reflecting on EAP’s achievements, identifying areas for growth, and charting a course for the future of paediatric care in Europe.

At the heart of our discussions was the reaffirmation of EAP’s mission to be the leading voice for paediatric health across Europe. Representing 53 national paediatric societies across Europe and 14 European paediatric subspecialty societies, with close collaboration to a further 14 affiliated societies dedicated to Child Health. We act on behalf of and in the interest of our member societies which we also wish to support.

Strategic Visioning

During our Strategy Day, we engaged in productive dialogues to assess our strengths and weaknesses as an organisation. We collectively prioritised our goals for the next three years and identified actionable steps to realise these objectives. The enthusiasm and creativity displayed by our members underscored our commitment to innovation and progress.

Key Initiatives & NEXT STEPS

Several key initiatives emerged from our discussions, here are a few key points:

• Enhancement of the EAP website to ensure it is user-friendly and informative, with ongoing input from members.
• Establishment of a Public Affairs Task Force, led by Suleyman Yildiz, to enhance our advocacy efforts.
• Strengthening of EAP’s Strategic Advisory groups and development of guidance standards for their operation.
• Proposal for new strategic advisory groups addressing critical topics such as climate change and child health, diversity and inclusion in paediatrics, and research for children.
• Exploration of funding for the creation of a European Academy of Pediatrics Leadership Academy, aimed at empowering future leaders in paediatric care.

Next Steps:

Following our Strategy Day, we are committed to translating our discussions into action. Our immediate priorities include finalising a comprehensive strategy plan for EAP, implementing website improvements, and further developing our strategic advisory groups.
